Maximum comp. rate goes down

Since 1982, the maximum disability beneift rate for Michigan work related injuries has been set at 80% of the State aVerage Weekly Wage.

Using this formula, the maximum rate has steadily increased, from $307 in 1982 to $752 in 2009.

This year, for the first time, the rate has gone down, to $746 - a reflection of the decline in the State's economy over the past twelve months.

This means that a high earning worker who was injured on January 1 2010 will be paid $6 per week less than if she or he had been injured one day before.
